Hype Machine

The explosion of mp3 blogs over the last couple of years has made the internet a haven for people who like to explore and discover new music. The sheer quantity of these blogs, however, has Enter Hype Machine. At its core, Hype Machine is an RSS aggregater specific to mp3 blogs. According to the website, “The Hype Machine keeps track of songs and discussion posted on the best music blogs. Easily listen, discover and buy songs that everyone is talking about!”

Tracks are not available for download directly from the Hype Machine site, but the most popular tracks are cached and available to preview in a small Flash-based music player. If you like a song you hear, you can choose to go download it from the blog that is hosting the file. Links are also provided to various online music retailers for those who want to purchase more from the artists they hear on Hype Machine.
